Group Training Organisations

Group Training Organisations (GTOs) employ Australian Apprentices and trainees, and then place them with 'host employers', usually from small to medium sized enterprises. This arrangement frees the host employer from the burden of paperwork and payroll, as well as providing a safety net for the host employer, who has all the advantages of carefully selected Australian Apprentices and trainees without the worries of long-term employment contracts.

GTOs aim to provide a cost effective service for employers who want more flexibility and greater ease when it comes to hiring trainees and Australian Apprentices. If you feel that your business may not be able to support an Australian Apprentice or trainee for the full term of the training, or perhaps does not have the capacity to provide all the necessary training, a GTO may provide the solution.

GTOs employ trainees and Australian Apprentices and hire them out to host employers with the GTO remaining the legal employer. The GTO is responsible for the wages, conditions, training and employment of the trainee or apprentice, and also signs the Training Contract.
