Available benefits
Australian Brick-laying and Block-laying Training Fund
If you employ an apprentice bricklayer you may be eligible for additional incentives. For further information and to see if you qualify, visit the

Australian Taxation Office
Payroll Tax Exemption:
You could be exempt from Payroll Tax. For information on Payroll Tax Exemption eligibility, download the
Payroll Tax Fax Sheet from the WA Department of Treasury and Finance website.
Superannuation:

Construction Training Fund
The Construction Training Fund supports employers to train Australian Apprentices in a range of construction trades in WA.
If you employ an Australian Apprentice through direct indenture or a group training scheme, the Construction Training Fund can provide additional grants to help reduce the cost of training.

Government Incentives Available to Employers
Assistance for Australian Apprentices with a Disability:
A program which provides additional assistance to eligible employers who employ a Certificate II or higher level Australian Apprentice with a disability. Assistance may include a wage support payment or tutorial, interpreter and mentor services.
General and Standard Commencement, Recommencement and Completion Incentives:
Employers of Australian Apprentices may be eligible for incentive payments for;
- Commencing an Australian Apprentice in Certificate II training (nominated equity groups only); Certificate III, IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualifications
- Recommencing Australian Apprentices at the Certificate III, IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma level
- Employing Australian Apprentices who successfully complete a Certificate III, IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification may be eligible to receive a completion incentive
Mature Aged Worker – Special Commencement and Special Completion:
Special incentives are available to;
An employer who commences an eligible Certificate II or higher level Australian Apprentice who is a disadvantaged person aged 45 years or more
An employer, upon the successful completion of a Certificate II or higher level Australian Apprenticeship by an Australian Apprentice who attracted a Mature Aged Worker special commencement incentive
Rural and Regional Incentive - Special Commencement:
Special incentive for Rural and Regional Australian Apprenticeships where the Australian Apprentice commences a Certificate III or IV qualification in a National Skill Needs List occupation in a non-metropolitan area.
School-based Apprenticeships - Additional Commencement and Retention:
Additional incentives are available to;
- An employer who employs an Australian Apprentice in an endorsed Australian School-based Apprenticeship at the Certificate II to IV level or in a Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification
- An employer who continues to employ a Certificate II to IV level or Diploma or Advanced Diploma Australian School-based Apprentice after the student has completed Year 12
Support for Adult Australian Apprentices:
Australian Government financial support is available for adult workers (aged 25 years or over) to upgrade their skills through an Australian Apprenticeship at the Certificate III or IV level in an occupation listed on the National Skills Needs List. From 1 January 2010, Australian Apprentices aged 25 years or more at commencement or who previously attracted Support for Mid-Career Apprentices payments may be eligible to attract Support for Adult Australian Apprentices.
